A diagnosis of breast cancer can be the beginning of a confusing and difficult time. HCGH now offers a valuable resource to help guide women dealing with breast cancer through the maze of diagnostic and treatment options: Howard County General Hospital’s Center for Breast Care. The center provides personal support and guidance and is available as soon as you receive your diagnosis.
The center offers the following comprehensive services in order to provide quality care in a timely, compassionate, supportive and coordinated environment:
- The multi-disciplinary Cancer Conference, which meets weekly to discuss your care
- Advice and support in scheduling appointments and procedures
- Advocacy during appointments and treatments
- Support through our volunteer survivor mentor program, Survivors Offering Support (SOS)
- Educational resources, including written materials and informational web sites, and guided visits to The Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center
- Minimally invasive Stereotactic Breast Biopsy Service
- Coordination of referrals to community support groups and services
- Counseling about each aspect of your breast cancer treatment
- Access to all of your breast cancer treatment needs right here on our campus
- Workshops addressing The Transition to Wellness following treatment and a Partner Support Workshop
